 This Tractor course is available in Galway, Mayo and throughout Ireland, this course is been developed in conjunction with Teagasc . It is Teagasc / Nee Safety Training, training material that's provided during the course.
This tractor training course covers the safety around the use and handling of tractors in the workplace such as farming,  landscaping, local authority, and where tractors are used to transport goods and materials by road. 
 

Tractor Safety Training Course Aim:

To provide Learners with the skills , knowledge and attitude  to be able to operate tractors correctly and safely on the farm ( off road )  and on public roads.
Hundreds of serious injuries occur on Irish farms and roads each year, the aim of this course is to increase awareness and to try to reduce accidents.
 
Tractor Safety Training Course Objectives:
On completion of this course, learners will be able to:
  • Understand their responsibilities relating to the operation of tractors
  • Understand the RSA requirement ( licence to drive on public road )
  • Understand the importance of pre use checks ( Five minute check ) 
  • Mount and dismount a tractor correctly & safely,
  • Identify hazards associated with tractors on slopes, inclines
  • Identify hazards associated with three point attachment implements  
  • Identify hazards associated with front loaders
  • How to avoid tractor tip over
Tractor Safety Training Course Contents:
  • Legal requirements, safety regulations for the use of a tractor
  • Risk Assessment, driver licence, rules of the road, driving techniques, tractor roadworthiness and legislation
  • Safe operating procedures when operating a tractor 
  • Pre start checks, before starting, relating engine speed to tractors hours, tractor warning lights . 
  • Driving the tractor , preparing the tractor for work,
  • In-cab controls,
  • Attaching a tractor to a trailer, detaching the trailer
  • Hitch a PTO driven machine to a three point linkage 
  • Correct hydraulic controls,
  •  Correct approach to implement,
  • Attaching implement to three point linkage,
  •  Attaching PTO shaft and securing guards, 
  •  Adjusting machine height, pitch, level and stability
  • Detaching and parking the implement   
  • Operate a loader
  • Safe operating procedures
  • Daily maintenance and pre start checks
  • Changing attachments on a loader
  • loading materials
  • Parking the loader
  • Telehandlers
 Tractor Safety Training Course Duration: 2 day course

Employers, employees, self-employed, farmers, local authority workers, landscapers, caretakers, haulage workers, people who use tractors.
 
Location: Can be done onsite at your facility or at locations nationwide.
