Pesticide Application Equipment Inspection Boom Sprayers Galway, Mayo and Nationwide
All boom sprayers in Ireland that are over 3 meters must be inspected and tested by a DAFM / Teagasc registered inspector by November 2016 as per EU Directive 2009/128/EC Annex II .
The Boom Sprayer inspection entails ( example inspection items )
Inspection of the Boom, nozzles, tank, pump, gauges, filters, hoses, all sprayer components are checked including PTO guards for condition and leaks.
A calibration check of the pressure gauge is carried out
A pressure test of the system is carried out at various locations on the boom
Nozzle flow checks are carried out
A drip test of each nozzles are carried out
Confirmation that each boom section can be shut down and compensation valves are operating correctly, carried out.

Prior to Inspection ( pre inspection checks by owner )
The boom sprayer must be clean, It must have no traces of pesticide ( Triple rinsed ) All PTO guards / chains must be in place The sprayer must be approximately 3/4 full of water The owner must sign a form to confirm the boom sprayer meets all the requirements of the pre inspection checks.
The owner must be available to operate the tractor and boom sprayer while the test is been carried out.
On satisfactory completion of the test you will receive a DAFM inspection label and your boom sprayer will be registered.
